And a man of Ephraim cried out, and they crossed over northward, and they said to Jephthah, Why did you cross over to fight against the sons of Ammon, and us you have not called to go with you? We will burn your house over you with fire.

And Jephthae said to them, I was a fighting man, and my people and the sons of Ammon were very much, and I called to you, and you did not save me from their hand.

and I saw that you were not a savior, and I put my life in my hand, and I crossed over to the sons of Ammon, and the Lord gave them into my hand; and why have you gone up against me on this day to fight against me?

And Jephthah gathered all the men of Gilead and drew up in battle against Ephraim, and the men of Gilead struck Ephraim, because the survivors of Ephraim had said, You are Gilead in the midst of Ephraim and in the midst of Manasseh.

And Gilead took beforehand the crossings of the Jordan of Ephraim, and the survivors of Ephraim said to them, Let us cross over; and the men of Gilead said to them, Are you not an Ephraimite? And he said, No.

And they said to him, Say now, Shibboleth, and he did not direct himself to speak so; and they took hold of him and sacrificed him at the crossings of the Jordan. And there fell at that time from Ephraim forty-two thousand.

And Jephthah judged Israel sixty years, and Jephthah the Gileadite died, and he was buried in his city in Gilead.

And after him Abesan from Bethlehem judged Israel.

And he had thirty sons and thirty daughters, whom he sent out away, and he brought in thirty daughters for his sons from outside; and he judged Israel seven years.

And Abaisan died and was buried in Bethlehem.

And after him Elon the Zebulunite judged Israel ten years

And Elon the Zebulunite died, and he was buried in Elon in the land of Zebulun.

And after him Abdon son of Hillel the Pirathonite judged Israel

And he had forty sons and thirty grandsons, riding on seventy colts, and he judged Israel eight years

And Abdon son of Hillel the Pharathonite died, and he was buried in Pharathon in the land of Ephraim, in the mountain of Amalek.
